Transform the Lives of Underserved Students with Pink Space Theory
At Pink Space Theory, we help the youth of today become the leaders and innovators of tomorrow. For the past six years, Pink Space Theory has offered free, STEAM-based programs to disadvantaged youth in Prince William County. Thanks to the generous support of our community partners, these programs come at no cost to families or schools.
On September 11th, Pink Space Theory will participate in an online fundraiser held by PWC Gives! We aim to raise $20,000 for the continuation of our programs. With your help, one hundred more students can discover the joys of STEAM—science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
What is Pink Space Theory?
Pink Space Theory is a nonprofit that provides STEAM enrichment programs for underserved youth in the third to fifth grades. Our programs primarily reach females, but boys are welcome as well.
Guided by the PINK philosophy—prepare, inspire, nurture, and kickstart—Pink Space Theory does more than instruct students. It instills them with the soft skills and confidence needed to excel in whatever field they choose.
What Does Pink Space Theory Offer?
In addition to our code-a-thons and college preparation panels, we offer two main programs: GREAT Math Minds and Make Tech Pink.
GREAT Math Minds is ideal for students with a gift for math. Our workshop features an award-winning curriculum and hands-on activities. Youth meet inspirational role models, receive one-on-one tutoring, and attend field trips to STEAM-based industries.
Students with an interest in coding will thrive in our Make Tech Pink program. Over a period of six weeks, they will code Sphero BOLT Robots, learn about computer science careers, and develop technical and interpersonal skills.
Why Should I Donate?
Pink Space Theory’s influence is evident in the classrooms. Ninety-six percent of GREAT Math Minds participants experience an average increase of 342% in test scores. In fact, nearly all of our students pass Virginia’s Math SOL test at proficient or advanced levels.
Our greatest impact is not in test scores, but in the students themselves. Educator Kendall Kane notes, “I have had many students who come into the program who are very quiet and closed in. Some I have never even heard talk before. The program opens them up. I get to watch their personalities grow and watch them become confident in holding conversations with each other and with adults.”
When we support these youth, we also invest in our community. Many of our students are inspired to improve the world through STEAM-based work. Most importantly, they learn the value of kindness, perseverance, and collaboration. Regardless of the profession they choose, students with these attributes can make our community shine even brighter.
