Virginia Tech and George Mason University invite teachers to a free half-day pilot professional development workshop focused on the GameChangineer Platform at the GMU Manassas campus. This innovative program offers an engaging way for students to master computational thinking and game design, exploring the mechanics behind iconic video games like Pacman, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Downhill Ski, and others.

The GameChangineer Platform integrates STEM concepts with grammar and language arts, providing a unique and entertaining method for understanding game design and logic. It not only boosts students' skills in game creation but also opens up pathways to potential career opportunities in design and development.

What to Expect:

This exclusive professional development workshop equips teachers with the following:

  • Practical, hands-on training sessions.

Target Audience:

This workshop is ideal for elementary, middle, and high school teachers.  The class size is limited to 20 participants so sign up fast.  All attendees must register to attend this course.

Meet the Instructor:

Michael S. Hsiao is currently a Professor in The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. He received his B.S. in Computer Engineering, M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, all from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He had held positions at Digital Equipment Corporation, National Semiconductor Corporation, NEC USA, Intel Corp., and Rutgers University.

He is a Fellow of the IEEE and a recepient of the National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award.
